This bill requires the Governor to include an appropriation of $450,000 in the annual budget bill for the Growing Family Child Care Opportunities Program for fiscal years 2028 through 2030, in addition to the previously mandated funding for fiscal years 2023, 2024, and 2026. The Growing Family Child Care Opportunities Program, referred to as the "Program," aims to provide grants to support local programs that establish and assist family child care providers, which is defined as care for children under 13 or developmentally disabled individuals under 21 in a home setting other than their own, for less than 24 hours a day, when parents are unavailable and payment is received. The bill also specifies that the Governor should use federal funds for this appropriation to the extent permitted by federal law, and the entire act takes effect on July 1, 2026.
