This bill requires the Governor to include an appropriation of $450,000 in the annual budget bill for the Growing Family Child Care Opportunities Program for fiscal years 2028 through 2030, extending funding for this program which provides grants to establish and support local family child care programs. The bill also specifies that for fiscal years 2023, 2024, 2026, and the newly added years of 2028 through 2030, this funding will be included, and to the extent possible, federal funds will be used to meet this requirement. The Growing Family Child Care Opportunities Program, or "Program," aims to support family child care providers, which are individuals who care for children under 13 or developmentally disabled individuals under 21 in a home setting for less than 24 hours a day, and for which they are paid.
