This bill reconstitutes the Tennessee Arts Commission by vacating its current membership on July 1, 2026, and establishing a new appointment process. The new commission will consist of fifteen members, with one member appointed by the governor from each of Tennessee's nine congressional districts, and three members appointed by the Speaker of the Senate and three by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, with these latter appointments representing each of the state's three grand divisions. Initial appointments will have staggered terms of three, four, or five years to ensure continuity, with all subsequent appointments being for five-year terms. Members will not receive compensation but will be reimbursed for expenses, and the commission will elect its officers annually. Existing administrative rules will remain in effect until amended or repealed.
