This bill reconstitutes the Tennessee Arts Commission, a state body responsible for promoting the performing, visual, and literary arts. Starting July 1, 2026, the current commission will be dissolved, and a new fifteen-member commission will be appointed. These new members will be chosen by the governor, the speaker of the senate, and the speaker of the house of representatives, with appointments distributed across Tennessee's nine congressional districts and three grand divisions (East, Middle, and West Tennessee). Initial appointments will have staggered terms of three, four, and five years to ensure continuity, with all subsequent appointments being for five-year terms. Members will not receive a salary but will be reimbursed for expenses, and the commission will elect its officers annually.
