As enacted, authorizes an LEA or public charter school to continue a disciplinary investigation of a student who, during the investigation, withdraws from the LEA or public charter school; authorizes, if the student later reenrolls, the LEA or public charter school to discipline the student in accordance with the LEA's or public charter school's policy based on the results of the investigation. - Amends TCA Title 49.

AI Summary

This bill amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 49, which relates to education, by adding a new section that allows a Local Education Agency (LEA) or public charter school to continue a disciplinary investigation of a student even if that student withdraws from the school during the investigation. Furthermore, if the student later reenrolls in the same LEA or public charter school, the school can still discipline the student based on the findings of the original investigation, following its established policies. This change provides continuity in disciplinary processes for students who might attempt to evade consequences by withdrawing from school.
