This bill amends Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 86B.313, subdivision 1, to allow the operation of personal watercraft earlier in the day. Specifically, it changes the restriction on operating personal watercraft from between one hour before sunset and 9:30 a.m. to between one hour before sunset and 8:00 a.m., meaning personal watercraft can now be used starting at 8:00 a.m. instead of 9:30 a.m. The bill also retains existing regulations regarding the use of personal watercraft, such as requiring wearable personal flotation devices approved by the United States Coast Guard (USCG), operating at slow-no wake speeds near shorelines or other watercraft, and ensuring engine cutoff switches are attached.
