This bill expands the types of individuals who can request a public information list, which contains voter registration data, by allowing the national chair of a major political party to obtain a copy in addition to registered voters. The existing law requires county auditors and the secretary of state to provide these lists within five business days of a written or electronic request and payment, and also mandates that a copy be available for public inspection without charge. The bill also reiterates that information from these lists must only be used for election-related, political, or law enforcement purposes and will take effect the day after it is officially enacted.
