This bill directs the commissioner of health to create and publish guidance for incorporating placenta accreta spectrum screenings into regular prenatal care. Placenta accreta spectrum is a pregnancy complication where the placenta attaches too deeply into the uterine wall. The guidance will include recommendations on when and how often these screenings should be performed, how to screen for risk factors like previous C-sections or uterine surgeries, and when to refer patients for further evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
