It also prevents electric utilities from requiring prior approval, extra fees, or additional equipment for these devices, and shields them from liability for damages caused by their use. Additionally, the bill mandates that the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) update the State Uniform Construction Code to provide guidelines for safely wiring homes to accommodate these portable solar devices, including those designed for international use.
