This bill modifies existing requirements for child care centers in Minnesota regarding training on abusive head trauma, which is severe brain injury caused by shaking or blunt force trauma to an infant or young child. Specifically, it mandates that child care license holders must post and maintain a poster, written or approved by the commissioner (the head of the relevant state agency), that details the risk factors associated with shaking infants and young children and ways to prevent such harm. This poster must be easily accessible to all staff, substitutes, and unsupervised volunteers working at the facility, and prominently displayed in a location visible to those receiving services and any visitors. This new requirement will take effect on January 1, 2027.
