This bill modifies the requirements for obtaining a cannabis showcase event permit, which allows licensed businesses to display and sell cannabis products at special events. Previously, a business authorized for retail sales needed to partner with separate licensed cultivators (growers) and processors (those who prepare cannabis for sale). Now, a "microbusiness licensee" (a business holding a specific type of license that allows for multiple cannabis activities under one umbrella) that is already authorized to conduct both processing and cultivation can fulfill both of those roles themselves for a showcase event permit. Furthermore, such a microbusiness licensee can also act as the required licensed processor and/or cultivator for *another* business applying for a showcase event permit, as long as the microbusiness is authorized for those specific activities. This change aims to streamline the process for microbusinesses and potentially increase participation in cannabis showcase events.
