This bill authorizes the governing body of a county to establish a "yellow dot critical motorist medical information program" designed to help emergency medical responders provide better care to individuals involved in motor vehicle accidents or medical emergencies. Participants can voluntarily submit personal and medical information, including their name, photograph, emergency contacts, medical conditions, current medications, and preferred hospital, which will be stored in a yellow dot folder kept in the vehicle's glove compartment. A yellow dot decal will be placed on the vehicle's rear window to alert responders to the presence of this critical information. Emergency medical responders are authorized to access this folder and use the information solely to identify the participant, understand any medical conditions that might affect communication, and ensure that existing medical issues and medications are considered when administering treatment. The program is to be funded through sponsorships, and participants will not be charged a fee.
