This bill establishes a yearly sales tax holiday for energy-efficient appliances in Florida, occurring every October from the first to the last day of the month. An "energy-efficient appliance" is defined as specific items like lighting fixtures, dehumidifiers, thermostats, dishwashers, refrigerators, stoves, clothes washers, water heaters, or air conditioners that have been certified by the U.S. Department of Energy or meet the standards of the Energy Star Program, a voluntary program that helps consumers identify energy-efficient products. The sales tax exemption applies to new appliances priced at $1,500 or less per item, and is intended for personal or home use, not for commercial purposes or resale.
