This bill mandates that Enterprise Florida, Inc., a public-private partnership focused on economic development, collaborate with the Department of Economic Opportunity to actively promote Florida as a destination for healthcare services, a concept known as "medical tourism." The Division of Tourism Marketing will be required to incorporate medical tourism promotion into its 4-year marketing plan, which will aim to raise national and international awareness of Florida's healthcare providers' qualifications and expertise, as well as business opportunities to attract medical practitioners to the state. The plan will also include initiatives to highlight qualified healthcare providers offering bundled services. Furthermore, the bill allocates at least $3.5 million annually for this medical tourism marketing plan and an additional $1.5 million for matching grants to local or regional economic development organizations that promote medical tourism, provided these organizations meet specific criteria and match the state funding.
