This bill makes two primary changes to Florida law: first, it expands the membership of the Children and Youth Cabinet, a group that advises on issues affecting children and youth, by adding a superintendent of schools, who will be appointed by the Governor, to its existing 14 members, bringing the total to 16; and second, it revises the requirements for students to earn a "Merit designation" on their standard high school diploma, requiring them to obtain two or more industry certifications from a state-established list, an increase from the previous requirement of one.
