This bill amends Florida Statute 381.7355 to add a new priority area to the Closing the Gap Grant Program, which aims to reduce racial and ethnic disparities in health outcomes. Specifically, project proposals submitted for this grant must now address the reduction of racial and ethnic disparities in morbidity (illness) and mortality (death) rates related to sickle cell disease, in addition to existing priorities like maternal and infant mortality, cancer, HIV/AIDS, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, immunization rates, and oral health.
