This bill allows individuals who have been awarded the Bronze Star medal, as verified by their DD-214 form or Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, to obtain special license plates for their vehicles. The chief administrator, who oversees motor vehicle services, will approve a design for these plates that includes the words "Bronze Star" and the medal's emblem, in addition to the standard registration information. There will be an additional $15 fee for these special plates, which will be used to cover the cost of producing them. Furthermore, the surviving spouse of a Bronze Star recipient who is a licensed driver in the state can keep these special plates for their own vehicle. The chief administrator is also authorized to create any necessary rules and regulations for the issuance and use of these plates, and the law will become effective seven months after it is enacted.
