This bill directs the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) to create a specialty license plate for the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust, a non-profit organization dedicated to conserving bonefish and tarpon fisheries. The bill specifies that the license plate will cost an additional $25 annual use fee, which will initially be used by the DHSMV to cover the costs of developing and issuing the plates. Once these startup costs are recovered, all subsequent annual use fees collected from the sale of these plates will be distributed to the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust. The Trust can use up to 10 percent of these funds for marketing the license plate, with the remaining funds to be invested and used to support conservation, research, education, and advocacy efforts for Florida's bonefish and tarpon fisheries and their habitats. This act is set to take effect on October 1, 2015.
