This bill modifies existing Massachusetts General Laws related to auto insurance claims, specifically concerning the reinspection of repaired vehicles. It removes a previous requirement that licensed auto damage appraisers reinspect at least 75% of claims where repair costs exceed $4,000 and at least 25% of claims where costs are $4,000 or less, and certify that the work was done according to the appraisal. Instead, the bill grants the commissioner the authority to set requirements for reinspections by licensed damage appraisers, either during or after repairs are completed. When a completed work claim form is needed, a licensed auto damage appraiser, potentially including a repair shop appraiser, will certify that the work aligns with an appraisal or repair order.
