This bill aims to ensure fairness in how municipalities fund regional vocational school districts compared to their traditional public schools by amending Chapter 70, Section 6 of the General Laws. Specifically, it proposes that a municipality's annual contribution to a regional vocational school district cannot increase by a larger percentage than the increase appropriated for that same municipality's traditional public school district's annual budget. This means that if a town increases its spending on its regular public schools by, for example, 3%, its contribution to the regional vocational school it belongs to cannot go up by more than 3% in that same year, preventing vocational schools from potentially receiving disproportionately larger funding increases from local taxpayers.
