This bill proposes to amend Chapter 217 of the General Laws to create the position of deputy assistant registers within the Hampden County Probate Court. Specifically, it allows the register of the Hampden Probate Court, with the approval of the Chief Justice of the Probate and Family Court, to designate employees as deputy assistant registers who will possess the same powers as assistant registers. The Chief Justice also has the authority to remove these deputy assistant registers. These newly created positions will receive additional compensation equivalent to 15% of the annual salary of the Hampden County register of probate. This change aims to provide additional support and administrative capacity to the Hampden County Probate Court.
