This bill amends Chapter 22 of the General Laws by adding a new section that requires the installation of steel bollards, which are short, sturdy posts, in parking spaces that are perpendicular to the front entrance of a retail establishment. This measure is intended to prevent vehicles from colliding with buildings. The Department of Public Safety will create rules for installing and maintaining these bollards, and the building owner will bear the cost. This requirement will only apply to new structures or those undergoing construction after the bill becomes law.
