This bill amends existing Massachusetts law, specifically section 7E of chapter 90 of the General Laws, to allow manufacturers or distributors of emergency vehicle lights to mount and display flashing, rotating, or oscillating red or blue lights on their vehicles under certain conditions. These conditions permit such displays for sales demonstrations, but only in specific, controlled environments such as a manufacturer-owned location, a pre-approved public location with written consent from the local police chief, an enclosed area, or when a law enforcement, fire, or emergency response official is present and directs the demonstration. The registrar, who oversees vehicle registration, is empowered to create further rules to implement these provisions.
