This bill proposes to expand the list of medical supplies that are exempt from sales tax in Massachusetts by adding several new categories. Specifically, it seeks to include infusion pumps and their related disposable supplies used for delivering various intravenous treatments, as well as different types of catheters and venous access devices. The bill also aims to exempt supplies for continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and Bi-level positive airway pressure (BIPAP) machines, which are used to treat sleep apnea and other respiratory conditions, along with their associated tubing, masks, and filters. Furthermore, it would exempt suction machines used for tracheostomy care and their related supplies, and other durable medical equipment such as bathroom commodes, nebulizers, and aerosol-generating devices. The intent is to make these essential medical items more affordable for patients by removing the tax burden.
