This bill amends Section 51F of Chapter 119 of the General Laws to change how certain background check information for foster parents is reported. Specifically, if a Department of Children and Families (DCF) background record check on a foster parent, which includes Central Registry Records, only contains findings of abuse or neglect that were determined to be "invalid," "unsupported," or similarly concluded that the foster parent was not responsible, then the report to the hiring authority will state "no record." This "no record" designation will be considered a complete summary of the foster parent's central registry record, although the Department can still use this information for future investigations.
