This bill amends existing Massachusetts law concerning physician assistants (PAs) by adding the Secretary of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services to a commission, and clarifying that health insurance carriers must cover services provided by PAs, including those under the medical assistance program (Medicaid) which is administered by the office of Medicaid and operates under Title XIX of the Social Security Act. Furthermore, it designates a physician assistant practicing within their licensed scope, which may include collaboration or supervision by a physician as per Chapter 112, Section 9E, as a qualified primary care provider for insured individuals under Chapter 118E.
