This bill establishes the MassMade Program, which will be overseen by the Massachusetts Office of Business Development (MOBD). The program's goal is to identify, compile, and promote businesses that are headquartered in Massachusetts and produce consumer products within the state. To achieve this, the MOBD will create a free, publicly accessible website that will serve as an online directory of these Massachusetts-based businesses and their products, functioning as both a marketing tool with business details and a consumer resource allowing searches by product type, location, and price. Participation in the MassMade Program will be free for businesses, but they must meet certain qualifications and standards, including demonstrating adequate production capabilities and sound customer service through an application process, to ensure high-quality products from reliable producers are featured. The MOBD is authorized to use appropriated funds, as well as accept federal funds and private gifts and grants, to support the program's operations.
