This bill establishes a requirement that any funds spent by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts related to hosting an Olympic Games, as officially recognized by the United States Olympic Committee and the International Olympic Committee, can only be authorized if a specific law, called a Special Act, is passed. Before this Special Act can be passed, the House and Senate Committees on Ways and Means, which are responsible for reviewing the state budget, must hold at least one public hearing. These hearings must be held in locations and at times that make it easy for the public to attend, and the committees have the option to hold multiple hearings in different parts of the state to ensure broad public input.
