This bill directs the Commissioner of Transportation to officially name the bridge that crosses the Shrewsbury River on Route 36 in Monmouth County as the "Captain Joseph Azzolina Memorial Bridge," honoring Captain Joseph Azzolina for his service in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserves, his business achievements, and his time as a respected member of the New Jersey Senate and General Assembly. The bill also authorizes the Commissioner to put up signs with this new name, but importantly, it specifies that no state or public money will be used for these signs; instead, the Department of Transportation can accept private donations, grants, or financial assistance from non-governmental sources to cover the costs of producing, purchasing, erecting, and maintaining the signs, and no work will begin until an agreement is in place with a private party to fund these expenses.
