This bill requires operators of horse riding schools and stables to obtain criminal offender record information from the department of criminal justice information services for any employee, volunteer, vendor, or contractor who will work directly with children under 18, or for vendors and contractors working on the premises for five or more days annually, to enhance child protection. Additionally, the department of agricultural resources will obtain this criminal record information when evaluating applications for licensure of riding schools or stables. The bill also repeals Section 2A of Chapter 128 of the General Laws, which likely pertains to previous licensing or background check requirements for these entities.
