This bill allows the town of West Bridgewater to grant two additional licenses for alcoholic beverages, one for drinks to be consumed on-site and another for drinks not to be consumed on-site, to businesses located specifically within the West Bridgewater Plaza at 860 North Main Street. These licenses are exceptions to a general rule (section 17 of chapter 138 of the General Laws) that limits the number of licenses a town can issue. The bill also states that these new licenses cannot be transferred to a location outside of the West Bridgewater Plaza, but they can be granted to new applicants within the plaza if they demonstrate good standing with the Department of Revenue and the Department of Unemployment Assistance, meaning all taxes, fees, and contributions are paid. If a license is no longer in use, it will be returned to the town's licensing authority, which can then grant it to another eligible business within the same plaza under the same conditions. The bill takes effect immediately upon its passage.
