This bill authorizes the town of Reading to issue additional licenses for the sale of alcoholic beverages, including all types of alcohol as well as wine and malt beverages only, by allowing it to grant these licenses under specific sections of Chapter 138 of the General Laws, which governs alcoholic beverages in Massachusetts. Specifically, it permits the town to grant licenses for the sale of all alcoholic beverages under Sections 12 and 15, and licenses for wine and malt beverages only under Section 12, as further detailed in Section 17 of Chapter 138. This authorization is granted notwithstanding any existing laws that might otherwise restrict the number of licenses the town can issue, and any licenses already granted will continue to be valid and count towards the total number of licenses allowed, provided the licensees remain compliant with the law and their license terms.
