This bill authorizes the town of Reading to grant additional licenses for the sale of alcoholic beverages, overriding certain existing laws that limit the number of such licenses. Specifically, it allows Reading to issue licenses for the sale of all alcoholic beverages and for wine or malt beverages only, under specific sections of Chapter 138 of the General Laws, which governs alcoholic beverages in Massachusetts. This expansion includes licenses for establishments that serve alcohol and those that sell it for off-premises consumption, and it also accounts for licenses previously granted under a 2010 special law.
