This bill authorizes the town of Dedham to issue one additional license for the sale of alcoholic beverages that can be consumed on the premises, overriding certain existing laws that limit the number of such licenses. This new license must be granted to an entity located at the Mother Brooks Arts and Community Center at 123 High Street in Dedham and cannot be transferred to another location or entity. The licensing authority can also restrict this license to businesses that already hold a common victualler license, which is a license to operate a restaurant or food service establishment. There will be an additional fee of $5,000 for this license, which will go into a town economic development fund. If the license is no longer used, it can be reissued to a new applicant at the same location, provided that applicant is in good standing with the Department of Revenue and the Department of Unemployment Assistance regarding tax and fee payments.
