This bill authorizes the town of Montague to issue one additional license for the sale of all alcoholic beverages that can be consumed on the premises to a specific business, the Powers Block, located at 26-28 East Main Street, overriding a general rule that limits the number of such licenses. This new license will be subject to most of the existing laws governing alcohol sales, except for the rule that limits the total number of licenses. The bill also specifies that once issued, this particular license cannot be moved to a different location, but it can be transferred to a new owner at the same location if the applicant demonstrates they are up-to-date on taxes and fees with the department of revenue and the department of unemployment assistance. If the license is canceled, revoked, or no longer used, it will be returned to the town's licensing authority, which can then grant it to a new applicant at the same location under the same conditions.
