This bill authorizes the town of Montague to issue one additional license for the sale of all alcoholic beverages that can be consumed on the premises, specifically to Montague Inn located at 485 Federal Street. This is an exception to a general rule (section 17 of chapter 138 of the General Laws) that limits the number of such licenses a town can grant. The license, once issued, cannot be moved to a different location but can be transferred to a new owner at the same location if the applicant demonstrates they are in good standing with the departments of revenue and unemployment assistance, meaning all taxes and contributions are paid. If the license is canceled or no longer used, it will be returned to the town's licensing authority, which can then grant it to a new applicant at the same location under the same conditions. The bill becomes effective immediately upon its passage.
