Bill Summary

This bill provides to a person with reasonable belief of possible harm to an animal left alone in a parked vehicle, and who acts in good faith to rescue the animal, immunity from criminal or civil liability for any damage to any vehicle or other property, or any injury to the animal, occurring as a result of the rescue or rescue attempt.

AI Summary

This bill provides immunity from criminal or civil liability for a person who, in good faith, breaks into and enters a vehicle to rescue an animal left unattended under inhumane conditions that pose a risk of serious harm or death to the animal. The bill requires the person to first report the situation to rescue personnel and make reasonable efforts to locate the animal's owner before taking action. The rescued animal must then be immediately turned over to law enforcement or animal control authorities for proper veterinary care and investigation of any potential animal cruelty violations.
