This bill prohibits employers from making deductions from an employee's wages, except for those deductions authorized or required by law, or expressly authorized in writing by the employee. Specifically, the bill prohibits employers from deducting wages for spoilage or breakage, shortages or losses, or fines or penalties for tardiness, misconduct, or quitting without notice. Employers who violate this provision will be subject to treble damages, payable to the employee, for the amount not authorized to be deducted or withheld.
