Bill Summary

Relative to compensation of certain employees on holidays. Labor and Workforce Development.

AI Summary

This bill would require fast-food restaurants in Massachusetts to compensate all their employees, except for certain high-earning executive or administrative staff, at a rate of at least 1.5 times their regular pay for work performed on the holidays of Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Employees would not be required to work on these holidays, and refusal to do so could not be grounds for discrimination or other penalties. The Attorney General would enforce this law, and any violations would be punishable by a fine of up to $1,000.
