This bill makes several key changes to the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program and home education programs in the state: 1. It requires the Department of Education to approve or deny an application for the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program within a specified time and provide copies of the approval or denial to the eligible nonprofit scholarship-funding organization. It also requires the department to include the scholarship-funding organization on correspondence related to tax credits. 2. It allows dependent children of members of the U.S. Armed Forces to apply for the scholarship program at any time, in addition to students in foster care or out-of-home care. 3. It requires parents to approve each funds transfer for the scholarship, in addition to restrictively endorsing scholarship warrants to the private school. 4. It revises the scholarship amounts, setting them as a percentage of the unweighted FTE funding amount based on the student's grade level. 5. It prohibits district school boards from requiring any additional information or verification from parents of home education program students beyond what is required by law, unless the student is participating in a school district program or service.
