This bill makes several changes to Florida's laws regarding home education programs and dual enrollment programs: 1. It prohibits school districts from requiring any additional information or verification from home education program parents, except when the student chooses to participate in a publicly funded program or service. 2. It allows home education program students to access career and technical courses and programs offered by public schools, with the school district reporting the students as full-time equivalents and receiving funding through the Florida Education Finance Program. 3. It requires school districts to make industry certifications, national assessments, and statewide, standardized assessments available to home education program students, and to notify them of the available assessments and registration deadlines. 4. It provides an exception to the age verification requirements for school attendance for certain children, such as those experiencing homelessness or known to the Department of Children and Families. 5. It requires school districts and schools to comply with certain procedures before instituting criminal prosecution against parents for non-enrollment or non-attendance. 6. It expands the eligibility for dual enrollment programs to include home education program students, and prohibits postsecondary institutions from placing additional limitations on home education students beyond those for other dually enrolled students.
