This bill, the Finger Lakes National Heritage Area Study Act, directs the Department of the Interior to assess the suitability and feasibility of designating specified counties and other areas in the state of New York as the Finger Lakes National Heritage Area. The study will analyze and document whether the study area has an assemblage of natural, historic, and cultural resources that represent distinctive aspects of the heritage of the United States, are worthy of recognition and conservation, and would be best managed through partnerships among public and private entities. The Secretary of the Interior is required to submit a report to Congress within 3 years of the bill's enactment, detailing the findings of the study and any conclusions and recommendations.
