This bill creates the Florida Young Farmer & Rancher Advisory Council within the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DACS). The council will consist of 12 members appointed by the commissioner, with staggered 1-year and 2-year terms. The council can submit annual recommendations to the commissioner on issues facing young and beginning farmers and ranchers, such as access to land, credit, capital, and business skills training. Additionally, the bill directs DACS to establish a clearinghouse on its website with resources for young and beginning farmers and ranchers, including grants, loans, scholarships, and general finance and business planning information. This includes resources for veterans who are beginning agricultural producers.
