Bill Summary
This bill requires the New Jersey Transit Corporation (NJ Transit) to provide for the removal of snow from all stops, stations, and stands used for the loading and unloading of passengers of motorbus regular route service, except in a municipality where the removal of snow has been provided for by written agreement or contract between NJ Transit and a public or private entity; or in a municipality or county that has adopted an ordinance or resolution designating another public or private entity responsible for snow removal. NJ Transit is also required to provide the name and phone number of the entity responsible for snow removal at each stop, station, and stand on the NJ Transit website. The bill authorizes NJ Transit to enter into a contract or written agreement for snow removal at a motorbus regular route service stop, station, or stand used for the loading and unloading of passengers with a county or municipality without advertisement for bids if: the scope of work does not allow for the award of a contract by the county or municipality to an outside contractor; or the Executive Director of NJ Transit determines the work to be performed is immediately necessary for public safety.
