This bill requires the Iowa Department of Human Services to adopt rules and amend existing Medicaid managed care contracts to ensure that Integrated Health Homes (IHHs) for individuals with Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) are administered according to the criteria established in the Medicaid State Plan Amendment. Key provisions include: 1) defining the target population as Medicaid members with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) or Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED); 2) making participation in an SPMI IHH voluntary for Medicaid members; 3) requiring SPMI IHHs to be accredited or meet national standards for mental health services; and 4) specifying the composition of the SPMI IHH team, which must include a nurse care manager, care coordinator, and a peer or family support specialist. The bill also specifies that the care coordinator must be embedded within the team. Finally, the bill states that the Act takes effect upon enactment.
