The resolution highlights that FMD, though previously considered rare, is now believed to be under-diagnosed, affecting a significant portion of the population, predominantly women, and often results in delayed diagnoses and a lack of established treatment protocols, leading to isolation and challenges for affected individuals and families. It also acknowledges the efforts of the Fibromuscular Dysplasia Society of America (FMDSA), founded in March 2003, in raising awareness, supporting patients, and funding research, and requests the Governor to issue annual proclamations encouraging appropriate activities and programs to observe this awareness month.
