This Joint Resolution establishes the first full week of May each year as "Wounded Warrior Appreciation Week" in New Jersey to acknowledge the significant sacrifices and challenges faced by military service members and veterans who have sustained physical and mental injuries, often referred to as "invisible wounds" like combat-related stress, depression, and traumatic brain injuries, during their service to the United States. The resolution aims to increase public understanding of these wounded warriors' unique needs and courage, encourage their successful transition back to civilian life, and promote their personal achievements, with the Governor being asked to issue a proclamation urging public officials and citizens to observe this week with suitable activities and programs.
