Know the Cost Act of 2018
AI Summary
This bill, known as the Know the Cost Act of 2018, prohibits group health plans, health insurance issuers, prescription drug plan sponsors, and Medicare Advantage organizations from restricting or penalizing pharmacies for informing enrollees about any differential between their out-of-pocket cost for a drug under the plan and the amount they would pay without using the plan. Additionally, the bill requires Medicare to provide annual notices to enrollees in prescription drug plans and Medicare Advantage plans about the potential effects that purchasing a drug without using the plan's benefits may have on their deductible and future cost-sharing obligations.
