We are excited to share some important news regarding the future of BillTrack50. Nimonik has officially acquired LegiNation, Inc., the owner of the BillTrack50 platform on July 31, 2026. Most of you know this already, but I wanted to personally write this letter to ensure our plans are clear. We will also post these plans publicly in the coming weeks.
I first met Karen Suhaka, the president and founder of BillTrack50, at the Personal Democracy Forum in New York City around 2012. We both share a belief that government data should be publicly available to all citizens and that citizens and organizations should be active participants in the democratic process. Our beliefs led us both to be involved in the open data movement and I started a number of non-profits in Canada to help develop open-data policies and plans for governments.
At the same time as my open data work, I was building my company Nimonik which focuses on helping cities, governments, and companies ensure compliance to laws, regulations and engineering standards. Shortly after our meeting in NYC, Nimonik began to use BillTrack50 data to help inform our customers of bills and regulations in the United States.
Our long-term partnership and decade-long collaboration led us to this acquisition and integration. Nimonik has been using BillTrack50 data for over 10 years to feed our Regulatory and Standards Compliance platform, which services over 950 companies around the world. We are now truly thrilled and honored to welcome the BillTrack50 team and community into the Nimonik team. The BillTrack50 team are awesome and great people.
We want to begin by emphasizing our commitment to continuity and the high quality of service you have come to expect. BillTrack50 will continue to operate as an independent business entity, and the brand you rely on will remain. Karen Suhaka will continue to lead the team as President, and the entire BillTrack50 staff is staying on to ensure a seamless transition. Our primary goal is to build upon the strong foundation already in place — not make any big changes.
