This bill directs the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to establish a competitive grant program called the Innovation Demonstrating Equity and Achievement Grant. The purpose of the grant is to minimize the achievement and opportunity gaps. Eligible applicants must be public schools in the Commonwealth with a high concentration of English language learners and low-income students, and they must utilize evidence-based practices. The grant funding can be used for priorities like reading and writing preparedness, support for English language learners, college and career preparedness, social and emotional wellness supports, expanded learning time, and accelerated academic curriculum.
